HOW TO DESTROY A NATION
By Eddie Hedges
Over the past several years, I have heard and seen reports that our children and grandchildren will be worse off than my generation. In disclosure, I am of the Baby Boomer generation. So the question is why do people think the future of the United States of America will not be as great as or greater than the past? Is the problem just a matter of economics? Is it a moral issue? Could it be a matter of Politics? Are we, as citizens of the US of A, destroying our Nation or at least allowing it to be destroyed? If the answer is yes, then WHY? Here are my thoughts.
A HOUSE DIVIDED CANNOT STAND. Our Politicians seem intent on focusing on dividing our Nation for their own political gain. They emphasize inequality in virtually every speech they give. Politicians are more interested in “distorting” the truth and putting the blame on the other political party than working to resolve the problem. This group does not have it as good as another, so we must tear down one to build up another. How about we teach each group to build up themselves and also value education?
UNCONTROLLED DEBT. This is a National Security Issue. When a nation has uncontrolled debt, they cannot fund a strong military. In fact, this is one of the first places Politicians look to reduce the budget. We should have a military so strong that no other nation would dare confront us. And National Debt will prevent us from allocating the funds necessary to accomplish this necessary goal. In addition, think about the amount of taxes necessary to collect just to pay the interest on our debt. This takes money away from businesses that create jobs and from their employees and their ability to purchase goods and services, which creates more jobs.
PROMOTE INEQUALITY—Racial, Income, Religious, Social, Taxes, Moral, Etc. Total equality is just not possible. However, equal opportunity is possible. Again, you cannot build up one without tearing down the other. Anyone in the United States has the opportunity for success if they are willing to get an education and then work hard and apply themselves. We have too many people who are takers and not givers and that only leads to a society of losers.
OPEN BORDERS AND UNRESTRICTED IMMIGRATION. Our National Security is at risk when we have uncontrolled borders. It is vital that we control immigration of those intent on destroying the American way of life and in some instances, destroying the lives of Americans. We must control the jihadists coming into our country. There must be restrictions on those with disease. In some cases, we may need to consider Racial Profiling, in an effort to protect the overall wellbeing of our citizens. We need immigration reform that encourages people that want to come here and build up our country and contribute to the betterment of our society. But not those that want to only take from us.
REDUCE MILITARY AND UNDERMINE LAW ENFORCEMENT. Laws must be enforced for us to live in an orderly society. There must be respect and support of those in the Law Enforcement sector. Yes, they cannot have total authority. That would create a Military Form of Government, however we cannot undermine the job they do to protect and preserve our rights and freedoms. Also, look at the negative changes or restrictions that have been imposed on our Military in recent years. So many of these changes have weakened or destroyed the moral of our Military. Our Military and Law Enforcement personnel must have the support of the citizens and politicians.
POLITICAL CORRUPTION. Yes, right here is the USA. Politician sell their votes for special favors to or from other Politicians, Special Interests Groups, and their Political Party. We have Political Prostitutes, so to speak. They make promises to be elected, and then sell themselves out to their Political Party and the establishment. Where are the Patriots? Where are those people that love our Nation more than political gain? Most of the problems in America today can be traced back to Congress.
EXCESSIVE REGULATIONS. I believe we all want clean water to drink and fresh air to breathe. We need proper oversight and testing of food, drugs, medical, financial, and other industries. But, we have given too much power to the EPA, Internal Revenue Service, and so many other Governmental Agencies that we are no longer the #1 economy in the world. How about some Common Sense and get rid of this “All or Nothing” attitude in the political arena.
CREATE A CULTURE OF SLOTHFULNESS INSTEAD OF THE DIGNITY OF WORK. I believe we should take care of the widows, orphans, and the “poor among us”. This is scriptural. The problem is defining the “poor among us”. But the Bible also condemns the lazy and slothful person. Work should be dignified. It is honorable. And it is necessary for a society to survive, grow and prosper. We need to change to giving incentives to work and be productive, instead of giving incentives that reward taking from the labor of others.
REMOVE GOD FROM YOUR NATION. God’s promises are conditional. They are based on our actions. Why would God bless and protect a Nation that has removed Him from virtually every area of society? An example is in our schools. God is no longer welcome in our schools and we are now reaping what we have sown. School shootings and violence. Disrespect for teachers and authority. Inappropriate student/teacher relations. Moral values are no longer honored, but are often ridiculed. In some cases, our entertainment industry, judicial system, and political area promote and encourage immorality. It has been said that you cannot legislate morality. But why would you legislate immorality? We are beginning to see the result of a society where God is not respected, honored, and revered.
FREEDOM WITH RESPONSIBILITY. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOTAL FREEDOM. TO PRESEVE OUR FREEDOMS, EACH AND EVERY CITIZEN MUST ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY THAT GOES WITH FREEDOM. WHEN CERTAIN SEGMENTS NO LONGER ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY, WE ALL LOSE OUR FREEDOM. Just look at countries where the people have no freedom, North Korea and Cuba. Is this what we want? Are we now harvesting the crop we have planted?
As a Nation, we need to look at where we are headed. In the not too distant future, are we going to be like the Middle East where car and suicide bombings are common? Think about what the future holds for our children and grandchildren. The America we grew up loving is changing quickly. And in so many cases, not for the better. This, my friends, is how you destroy a Nation.
